The Ministry of Christ
The ministry of Christ covers many avenues. Christ ministered to the sick, the poor, those in need of food and comfort, those with ill children and those who needed help in their walk with the Lord. By calling the small children to himself, he showed us how we must be to enter heaven. By telling short stories, called parables, he was able to use his ministry to teach in a way that even people lacking in formal education could understand. He often focused on those at the margins of society, and healed them, and showed them compassion. In this way, he was able to teach others to have compassion on their neighbors.
The ministry of Christ included feeding the hungry, and not just two or three at a time, but in multitudes. Loving the unlovable was something Jesus did often and well. Giving poor sinners guidance and a way to salvation was the theme of much of Jesus’ preaching and teaching. Forgiving even those who were putting him to death teaches us how we too should forgive others. After his death, Jesus’ ministry continued on, gaining strength to this day.
Some say the ministry of Christ ended when he died on the cross, but in actuality, it was only the beginning.
