Unified Ministries for Christ

Simple words with complex meaning

Unified in Christ

The Church as it is described in the New Testament, is a group of people who are unified in Christ. While each church building here on Earth may have a different sign on the door that reads Baptist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, or Lutheran, the capital-C Church will not have any sign.

Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and Christians compose the Body of Christ, otherwise known as the Church. In the human body, the head controls the body—the brain tells the arms and legs what to do. In the Body of Christ, Jesus’ followers are supposed to be directed by Jesus Christ through the moving of the Holy Spirit.

When a believer dies and goes to heaven, thy will really be able to do this. Right now, though, their earthly, sinful desires get in the way of being able to truly live up to being part of the Body of Christ. So, believers are unified in Christ, but do not get to experience this fully here on Earth the way they will in heaven.

The Bible uses language, which is based in limited, time-bound, human understanding to try to describe the Kingdom of Heaven, which is unlimited and not bound by time. This is why there are so many different interpretations of the Bible. When Christians get to heaven, it is very likely that there will be many surprising areas where various groups have misinterpreted the Bible. And probably equally surprising in some areas where they got it right.
